Human myaisis outbreak in the Northern Cape SABC News
There’s been an outbreak of human Myaisis or flying maggots in the Northern Cape. Twelve people from Upington and Kuruman have been treated since the beginning of March.
Myaisis is a climatic disease; experts say the recent heavy rains in the province could have fuelled the outbreak.
The flies lay eggs on human flesh and once contracted, medical treatment is required.
