The last Redglobe and Crimson Seedless are being packed. It is expected that only one producer will still be packing
Crimson Seedless at the end of Week 5. Weather conditions are favourable whilst the quality is still excellent.
Orange River Region
Extremely low volumes of Crimson Seedless and Sugranineteen will be packed in the region up to the end of Week 5 when packing for the season should come to an end. Very hot weather conditions are being experienced. The quality is excellent and vineyards are healthy.
Oliphants River Region
Redglobe, Crimson Seedless, Autumn Royal and Thompson Seedless are currently being packed in the region. Weather conditions are favourable for packing, the quality is excellent and the vineyards are healthy.
Berg River Region
Redglobe, Thompson Seedless, Autumn Royal, Crimson Seedless, Sugranineteen, Sunred Seedless, Regal Seedless, La Rochelle and Ebony Star will be packed in various parts of the region during Week 4 into Week 5 The quality is excellent and the vineyards are very healthy.
Hex River Valley Region
Crimson Seedless, Autumn Royal, Redglobe, Alphonse Lavallée and Regal Seedless is mostly being packed in the region. The season is still 10-14 days earlier than normal and all varieties tend to mature at the same time due to the excellent weather conditions still being experienced. The quality is excellent and vineyards are very healthy.
OLIPHANTS RIVER – ANNUAL BLOCK COMPETITION

The annual block competition for the Oliphants River region took place in the second last week of November. The judges were Nel de Villiers (Nexus Vredendal), Jeanne de Waal (DOW), André van Wyk (SATI) and Arnold Viljoen (Topfruit). This year’s competition was an early/mid-season one and the following cultivars could be entered: Flame Seedless, Prime seedless, Sugraone, Starlight Seedless, Midnight Beauty, Early Sweet and Ralli Seedless. A total of 13 blocks were entered and the winners were as follows:
WINNER – Willem Visser from the farm Dagbreek-Olyven in Trawal with a block of Flame Seedless
SECOND PLACE – Jacques Greeff from the farm Syphon in Vredendal with a block of Flame Seedless
THIRD PLACE – was a tie between André le Roux & Johan Mostert from the farms Dessie in Vredendal with a block of Flame Seedless and Stefan Bothma from the farm Sigma in Trawal with a block of Flame Seedless.
