[:en]The late summer rains and high day-time temperatures after a dry previous season have resulted in a serious situation for both farmers and other role players in the food value chain who depend on agriculture’s purchase and supply capacity. It is already clear that agriculture is facing dire challenges which cannot be successfully addressed without support. Penetrating rains will be required to reduce the risk, especially for cropping farmers. The need for stock feed is increasing rapidly.
Agri SA wishes to give its assurance that all role players in the public and private sector who have an interest in the impact of the drought are involved in discussions around possible assistance to soften the negative consequences thereof and prevent disruption. Agri SA will provide elucidation in this regard on a regular basis.”
Agri SA sal gereeld hieroor toeligting gee.”
