Increase in minimum wage for farm workers announced
Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has announced an increase in the minimum wage of farm workers with effect from 1 March 2015. In terms of the new adjustments, farm workers will earn a minimum wage of R2 606,78 per month; a weekly minimum wage of R601,61; a daily rate of R120,32; and an hourly rate of R13,37. The increase is based on the lowest quintile of the CPI for November 2014, which was 6,2%, plus 1,5%, amounting to 7,7%.
