Minister Zokwana announced that the government is considering emergency relief for drought-stricken sugar cane farmers in KwaZulu-Natal.
Mr Zokwana and Mr Nkwinti (minister of rural development and land reform) told the press that persistent drought was starting to hurt the economy and is making the import of maize and wheat a certainty.
Mr Nkwinti also said that the scale of the problem of moving animals would be known only once the team investigating the situation returns.
