Food inflation puts downward pressure on consumer prices
INFLATION slowed more than expected to its lowest level since February at 5.9% year on year last month mainly as a result of lower food and fuel prices, Statistics SA (Stats SA) data showed on Wednesday.
Bird flu cost SA R4bn
The outbreak of the bird flu virus, commonly known as avian influenza, in the past few years has cost the country about R4-billion, says Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Senzeni Zokwana.
