Communal farmers at Bofulo Trust Wool Sheep in Thaba Nchu, Free State, have been handed a sheep shearing facility to develop their business.
Funded by the provincial department of agriculture and rural development the project seeks to improve and develop local shearing businesses in the area.
The provincial government says it has invested more than R2.5 million to help boost local farmers.
Free States MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Oupa Khoabane says, “Its quite a number of families that are going to benefit out of this. Those that are taking part in wool industry will benefit from this structure so it’s quite a huge project that has serious impact to many families.”
The 10 beneficiaries have been urged to look after their livestock.
The department of Agriculture Rural Development and other stakeholders are also providing support, training and infrastructure.
