Hy sê bogemiddelde reën is…

Areas within Central South remain in the grip of a crippling drought.

According to the Northern Cape Early Warning Committee, the province is experiencing one of the worst droughts in more than a century with prolonged drought conditions having prevailed for the past five years, resulting in a devastating knock-on effect on agriculture, the rural economy and the social welfare of residents.

In the far flung western regions of North West, the situation is also dire.

AGRI Northern Cape Drought Disaster Fund

AGRI Northern Cape Drought Disaster Fund

AGRI Northern Cape Drought FundThe AGRI Northern Cape Drought Disaster Fund was created to provide assistance to specifically the farmers in the Northern Cape during the extreme drought they are currently experiencing; this is the worst drought since 1927.

This is an urgent request to the public to make a financial contribution to the AGRI Northern Cape Drought Disaster Fund; to all those who care please help us to assist the farmers to get through this terrible drought and ease the financial disaster.

The fund will be audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) to ensure that assistance is given to needy farmers and not a cent is wasted or misused.

Mr Nicol Jansen, the president of Agri Northern Cape, who is also a farmer in the province, understands how important it is for people from the Northern Cape as well as South Africa to stand by and support farmers. Food security, farmers, the livelihood of workers, animals and entire farms are in jeopardy.

The impact of the drought is experienced first-hand by the farmers, in the end, the consumer will also experience the effect of the drought through product shortages and price increases of commodities. That’s why it’s so important to prioritise and manage all efforts to support our farmers.

Agri Northern Cape appeals to the Northern Cape residents and concerned people from South Africa to assist farmers by contributing financially to the fund.
