3rd Land Reform Imbizo: 26 February 2015

The President of Agri SA was invited by Mr. Roelf Meyer of the ANC to attend the 3rd meeting of an Imbizo hosted by Standard Bank, the Centre for Leadership and Dialogue, the University of Stellenbosch and Businesses School of University of Pretoria and the office of the ANC Secretary-General. Johannes Moller was accompanied by Hans van der Merwe and Annelize Crosby. Dieselterugbetaling

Die dieselterugbetalingstelsel maak voorsiening vir ‘n terugbetaling van die hele of deel van die heffings op brandstof aan produsente in die landbou, bosbou, vissery en mynbousektore. Die dieselterugbetaling wat boere ontvang, word van 1 April 2015 verhoog vanaf R1,878 c/l na R2,50 c/l op 80% van die toegelate dieselverbruik. Dié verhoging spruit uit Nhlanhla Nene se aankondiging op 25 Februarie dat die heffing van die padongelukkefonds met 50 c/l en die algemene brandstofheffing met 30.5 c/l verhoog. Lees meer

Environment

New Alien and Invasive Species Regulations and its impact for land owners

On the 1st of August 2014 the Alien and Invasive Species Regulations, promulgated in terms of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (Act 10 of 2004), came into effect. Whilst certain commodities may have a specific interest in the species listed, Agri SA’s Natural Resources Policy Committee requested an investigation into the potential obligations it could place on land owners in general.

Severe drought conditions discussed at the meeting of the National Disaster Management Advisory Forum (NDMAF)

Agri SA as member of the NDMAF, attended the first quarterly meeting for 2015 of the forum on the 19th February 2015. The meeting was attended by most sector departments, including the national treasury, departments of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, social development, cooperative governance (NDMC), SA Police Service, heads of the provincial disaster management centers, the SA Weather Service (SAWS), Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (general council).
